UBR RESULTS 10/22

The final UBR match of the season was held 10/22, and it was a great time. 20 shooters arrived to wind gust reported to be 40 mph with 20 mph sustained winds and 43 degree temperature. We did manage to avoid the rain, that was welcomed by all. Some figured it out, some did not but everyone seemed to accept the challenge. Jeremiah finally ditched his shorts, our eyes are glad, and was rewarded with a fine 238 score in a very wild condition as the wind never left up, some say getting worse towards the end. So a great season, thanks to all who contributed by working . Jeff Sass through the efforts of his wife provided us with some fine hot chili that sure was welcome today. Thanks Mrs Sass. Jack Balon shot a 1.068 5 shoot group to capture the side pot. Pic, Jack Balon, Jeremiah Keefe, Gene Delp, and before I stop, Good Luck to the ANDERSON CREEK SPORTSMEN group going to the Tack Driver. We are all rooting for you, have a safe trip.

Hunt Safe!

Thursday, Friday and Saturday there will be alot of kids in alot of deer stands with mentors of some sort across PA.

Some will be family others friends or teachers or folks that have simply been asked the favor of, can you take my child.

Best of luck to everyone and may your hunt be safe and successful.

Safety and following the laws are first and foremost. Secondly have fun and remember they are just kids, don't turn it into work for them. If they are happy let them shoot it.

Stay blessed everyone and enjoy these three days and make some memories

RESULTS 10/8

First and foremost, thanks to the 26 shooters, some from close 4 hours away, who turned out today despite a tough forecast. But, no rain, some sun, and plenty of wind to make it not for the faint hearted. Secondly, I asked the goup if they wanted to add a 300 yard shoot the third Sunday of this month, I believe every hand went up. On a roll, I asked who would help next year, once again I think every hand went up. What a great group we have assembled this season.A heartfelt thanks to all of you. Frank Carrier volunteered to run the line today and Dave Shaw ran targets. Thanks to Jeremiah Keffe for filling in as need and for collevting my flags. Our warm weather golf cart responded to some prodding from Tom Anderson start in spite of the temperature in the morning in the 40s. Tom brought is 12 year old son Nolan who shoot like an adult, I hope he becomes a regular. We need another golf cart driver Nolan. Ok enough, now the results.

Custom Class First Jack Balon 245, Jack also won the 5 shot side group, match with a .586 group , this in winds between 15 and 26 mph. He was rewarded with $115.00.

Second Jim Wonders with a 243 took home $70.00

Third Austin Sass shooting a 240 showed he is in tune with his new rifle. $45.00 went home with him.

Factory Class First Dave Shaw $$

Second Dean Brosius $$

Junior Class First Nolan Anderson $$

Come shoot the last UBR Match of the year Sunday October 15.

The weather conditions were hard to believe! Taking advantage of it and whipping all the boys today was Kim Weidler. Not once, but twice in the same match. Kim won the match with a fine 199. Not content, she also cleaned out the side match group money can by shooting at 300 yards, a sizzling .320. Great shooting Kim, make Bill do the dishes tonight. Hey, maybe all week. Lookin forward, next week is the last 400 yards deer match for 2023. Hope to see everyone there. Results from today:

First Kim Wiedler 199

Help Needed!

The rifle match season is down to 2 months for the year. That being said, we need younger members to step up and learn how to run matches or they will no longer exist. The average age of the people doing the matches is 70 and we are getting tired.

Please contact me if you are willing to help. 3 of us have been running matches for almost 20 years, while working full time, so I'm too busy won't cut it.

GROUNDHOG Results

Last night the weather went to 9 and 22. Not much 9 but lots of 22 gusts. Some guys really overcame adversity. Kevin Dufford arrived at the match only to discover one of his new tires installed yesterday was flat. Really flat. Did not bother Kevin as he won the small group at 400 yd's in wild wind with a group slightly over 1.5 in. 400 yards sorted out the field although the tiny 10 half ring at 100 put the hurt on a lot of guys and ladies at the closet target of the match. Back in the winners circle today with a 191 in Custom was Jeremiah Keefe. As an indication of the gusting switching crazy wind today it usually takes around 200 or more to win. Jeremiah has his new proprietary 30 case cooking. Tied with a lowly 186 for second were 3 shooters. Gene Delp, Steve Kaffana, and Jack Balon. The rest of us mere mortals......cannon coder. Ed Rethi as the lone Factory shooter was first.....and last. But hey, he took home money, I didn't. It was good to see Peggy Yonkosy and Al Croft today. Thanks to all who attended and helped. Pics; Kevin with his excellent 400 best group target, Ed Rethi, Kevin Duffore, Gene Delp, Jack Balon, Jeremiagh Keefe, Steve Kaffana

MATCH RESULTS

Yes, a typical day on the mountain top. 73 degrees, sunny, and windy. Weatherman said 9 mph with 22 mph gusts. Well, I missed the 9 part. It was an challenge. 15 shooters made noise and some actually hit the deer.....most of the time, or some of the time. But I heard no complaints but lots of laughter and ribbing. Jeremiah Keefe shot a 1.800 inch 5 shot group to win the small group side bet based on the first target. Factory class shooters all went home happy. They all got money. Result are:

Custom Class First Jeremiah Keefe 82

Second Alvin Lee 76

Third Jeff Gates 74

Factory Class First Ed Rethi 52

Second Dave Shaw 46

First Satuday of June , the 3rd, will be 200 yard UBR where fat bullets don't help you and skinny bullets won't hurt you. Hope to see you all then. Picture first row Alvin Lee and Jejf Gates, second row Dave Shaw, Ed Rethi, Jeremiah Keefe.
