Members, shooters - take note!

1. At the next 400-Yard Deer Target Match, we will trying a new match format between relays. It will be a "Sniper Match" The target is a B34 Rev RC, a 50-foot reduced police target set at 400 yards. This is the equivalent of shooting a silhouette at 1200 yards. The firearm must be a factory rifle and shot off a bi-pod, you may use a rear bag. There are no limitations on the scope or ammo used. It is a challenging, but not impossible, target to shoot.

2. There are sign-up sheets in the club meeting room for the Kids Fishing Derby, coming up in July. There are 3 different ones. Volunteer the day of the derby, prize donations and drinks and chips.

3. If there are any members willing to rebuild the 50-yard back stop, please contact me and I will give you the dimensions and info on what needs done.

Thanks,

Tom

Four-year-old Benjamin Chimenti, son of new member Andy Chimenti, was fishing on the Susquehanna Rive rrecently, across from George McCoy's shop, and got into a mess of trout.

He is pictured here with the sixth one he caught.

Fishing derby for kids set for Sat., July 28

After looking at the pond and seeing all the aquatic life, we are going ahead with the planning of the fishing derby. It will be open to any child, with an adult accompanying them.

I am asking the membership for help with the derby and with the food and prizes. Any member that can donate an inexpensive "kids fishing outfit" for prizes would be greatly appreciated. We also will need boxes of small bags of chips, juice boxes and water. The hot dogs and buns will be taken care of.

The derby will be held Saturday, July 28th, from 2 till 5 p.m.   It is a catch-an -release day of fishing of fun for kids. There will be prizes for the youngest boy and girl catching fish, the biggest fish, the heaviest fish and anything else we can think of. We are hoping this will introduce fishing to kids who may never have done it before

If you can help with the derby or want to donate items, please contact me anytime at 236-3828 or e-mail me at gunrunnerth@hotmail.com. There will be a sign up sheet for helping and donations in the club house.

Thank you,

Tom Hamilton

Old Business
After an interpretation of the new gambling laws we will no longer have a 50/50 drawing but will have a non-monetary prize drawing.

Tom Hamilton reported there are a lot of fish and tadpoles in the pond. The Fishing Derby for kids will be held on July 28th  from 2:00 until 5:00. Members are asked to donate items to be used as prizes for the kids (fishing poles, gift certificates, etc..). Please bring any donations to the club at the next meeting, Tom Hamilton will coordinate the collection of donations.

New Business
The lawn tractor has been serviced and is ready to mow. The water pump has gone bad on the tractor and George McCoy got us a new pump at cost. The tractor will be repaired next Sunday the 20th at 2:00 if you are willing to help.

We received a new insurance policy and we voted to change the tractor listed from the old John Deere to the new Case/IH and increase the value to $10,000.00 on a Walt Kuzemchock motion and a Joel Dutra second.

The following applicants appeared at the meeting for membership in the club, Ken Straub,  Rick Knisley and Andy Chimenti, they were admitted on a motion by Ed Spencer and a second by Roy Mahlon. Ed Gray,  Doug Ell and Tom Shaffer were not present.

Travis Spencer won the prize drawing.

Joel Dutra made a motion to adjourn and Roger Thomas seconded the motion.

The 50-yard benches are rebuilt and ready for shooting. I want to thank Wayne Hicks for helping me with them, Dan Francisco and Andy Shaffer for working on the tractors and smoothing up the road to the 400-yard back stop, Bud and Roger Thomas for filling in the pot holes on the club driveway and pulling out the post around the apple trees, and Shannon McKee for cleaning up the club house. Great job!
