2015 Kids Fishing Derby

It's all about the kids and they had a great time.

June 20th Kids Fishing Derby

The Anderson Creek Sportsmen's Club held there annual "Kids Fishing Derby" on Saturday, June 20th.  There were 37 kids registered, with well over 100 in attendance.
The weather was good, with just a light, quick shower around noon
This years winner was 6 year old Megan Nelen, with the largest fish, a 17" large mouth bass.
She was awarded a complete pan fish, fishing outfit and a loaded tackle box.
Because of the generosity of the club members, every child took home a prize.
Special thanks to the Anderson Creek Watershed Association for their help during the derby and a donation of $100.00 to offset the cost.

June 2015 Meeting Minutes

Anderson Creek Sportsmen
June 13, 2015 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Tom Hamilton at 7:30 p.m.

The May minutes were presented by Randy Mitchell and approved on a motion by Joel Harris and a second by Bob Huston. The treasurer’s report was presented by George McCoy and approved on a motion by Joel Dutra and a second by Mike Solida.

Match Results
The Deer Rifle Match had 23 shooters and the Round Target match had 16 shooters. There will be another Deer Rifle match on 6/14/15. Final preparations are being made for the Groundhog Target match and they are scheduled to start in August.

Old Business
The new sign has been installed, Jeremy Smith dug the holes, James Johnston and Tom Hamilton set the poles and James Johnston, Tom Hamilton, Walt Kuzemchock and Shannon McKee installed the sign. Gates hardware donated the cement to set the poles and the stainless steel hardware to mount the sign.
The mower blades have been sharpened and the township mowed around the pond and various other places in preparation for the upcoming fishing derby. Bob Huston made a motion to donate $100 to the township for mowing expenses.

New Business
The NWTF representative’s daughter got married the same day as our meeting and could not attend our meeting as planned.
Tom Noble has had eye surgery and will not be able to organize the upcoming trapshoot/steak feed. Steve Beretsel has volunteered to run the event and can be contacted at 771-8468 for any questions or if you want to volunteer to help with the match. The price of the trapshoot/steak feed will be $30.00.
Final preparations are being made for the Annual Fishing Derby. Please contact Tom Hamilton if you want to volunteer. There are reports of some very large bass being caught in the pond. The fishing derby will be catch and release but it was agreed that if a youngster catches a very large fish and the parents want to have it mounted they may keep the fish.

We still have a lot of work that needs done at the club:
        General cleanup.
The flue in the gun room needs repaired.
    The picnic tables need sealed.
The overflow pipe in the pond needs repaired.
And as always MOWING, buy your own gas and get a receipt for reimbursement.

Bob Huston volunteered to get a water sample and Shannon McKee volunteered to tear down the old sign.

George McCoy won his first  door prize ever.
Andy Shaffer made a motion to adjourn and the motion was seconded by Bud Thomas.

Respectfully submitted by Randy Mitchell secretary.

Help Needed to Install the New Sign

Our new sign is done, and I think it looks great.  If there are any members that could meet me at the club next Monday morning at 10 AM to take down the old one and put up the new one, please call me or e-mail me, it will take more than 1 person.

Fishing Derby Update

A reminder to members to please bring in any prize donations for the derby to our June meeting.  The club will also be purchasing items using funds from our knife raffle.  We also need a rough idea as to how many members will be there to help.

thanks,
Hammy
