Elk caught grazing on club property

We took pictures of bull elk grazing right behind our camp on Saturday, June 25. One is a 6x7 bull and the other a 7x8.

There was a smaller one, but the bigger bulls would not let him near their feeding area.

Wisconsin passes right-to-carry legislation

Both chambers of the Wisconsin state legislature have voted to approve one of the nation's strongest Right-to-Carry bills, by solid bipartisan margins.

Senate Bill 93, which was strongly backed by NRA, now goes to Governor Scott Walker (R) for his expected signature. When signed, it will leave Illinois as the only state that provides no way for citizens to carry concealed firearms for self-protection outside their homes or places of business.

Castle Doctrine Bill Passes Pennsylvania Senate

House Bill 40, the NRA-backed Castle doctrine legislation, passed in the state Senate on Monday, June 20,  by a 45 to 5 vote. This bill will now go to Governor Tom Corbett for his consideration.

Introduced by state Representative Scott Perry (R-92), HB 40 would permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their home and any place outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. If enacted into law, it would also protect individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker's family when force is used.

The companion bill to HB 40, Senate Bill 273, was sponsored by Richard Alloway, II (R-33). Please thank both Representative Perry and Senator Alloway for sponsoring this important self-defense legislation. Contact information is listed below.

Also, please contact Governor Corbett and urge him to sign into law HB 40. He can be contacted by clicking here to send an e-mail message.

Tom Hamilton, Scot Wink, Joel Harris win 400-yard bullseye matches

We had almost perfect conditions Sunday, June 19, at our 400-yard bullseye matches. There was a light breeze, with little humidity and moderate temperatures. Twenty-eight targets were shot.

.223 Class:
1. Tom Hamilton from Curwensville
2. Tom Hamilton
3. Linda Soliday from DuBois

.30 Calibre Class:
1, 2, & 3. Scot Wink from Curwensville

Unlimited Class:
1. Joel Harris from Reynoldsvile
2. Mike Soliday from DuBois
3. Rick Stanko from Sheffield

Match note:
Joel Harris, the unlimited class winner, was packing up after warm-ups because he could not get sighted in at 400 yards. Walt Kuzemchock suggested that we take him to the 100-yard range and see what was going on. After several shots, and several clicks, he took the center out of the target. Joel went back the match and beat his friend, Mike Soliday. Maybe Mike should have told him to go, "Just one more click".
