Lt. Matt Hamilton Bags 19-Pound Turkey

Lt. Matt Hamilton killed this gobbler at 8:30 AM on Sunday morning while hunting just off base at Leavenworth, Kansas. The bird weighed 19 pounds with 8 1/2" beard and 7/8" spurs.

With Lt. Hamilton is 12 year old Tristian Thornton, son of one of Matt's staff sergeants. Matt has been getting his NCO's and their kids into hunting more and more. This was Tristian's first time turkey hunting. You can tell by the smile on his face that it won't be the last.

Please Vote in USA TODAY Poll

This poll gives you the right to make your opinion heard. It takes 5 seconds - It is still a live link.

Our new Attorney General has already said firearms restriction is one of his major issues.

This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month.. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

First - vote on this one. Second - send it to other folks and ask them to VOTE! - then we will see if the results get published. Vote in the USA Today poll - click on the link below. The Question is: Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms? Vote here: Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 11th, 2009 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Jeremy Smith at 7:30 p.m. on April 11th, 2009

The January minutes were presented by Randy Mitchell and approved on a motion by Bob McClure and a second by Shannon McKee. The treasurer’s report was presented by George McCoy and approved on a motion by James Johnston and a second by Dave McNeel.

Old Business
We had a successful work party with 10 members attending. Trees were trimmed, the gun room cleaned, chestnut and apple trees were planted, a downed tree was removed from the 400 yard range and other general clean up was performed. The refrigerator was repaired and Grampian Hardware adjusted the bill to our satisfaction. Randy Mitchell will check on the availability of a used replacement water pump.

Walt Kuzemchock reported that Bob Kingsbury was the only club member to place in the recent IBS match. The winning score was a 250 with 20 x’s.

Tom Hamilton has located a 7 year supply of deer targets for the deer rifle matches. James Johnston had the golf cart tire repaired at a price of $37.

New Business
Walt Kuzemchock reviewed the 3/22/09 pond water quality test sent by Mahaffey Labs. Walt reported that all of the tests show the pond to be in excellent shape. Don O’Dell found a new deck for the mower for $800 plus shipping. The members on a Dave McNeel motion and a Shannon McKee second decided to have Tom Hamilton buy a new mower not to exceed $1500.

Bob McClure suggested we supply new members with a copy of the bylaws and an explanation of the point system.

Andy Shaffer reported that he will be planting clover, sorghum and corn in three strips in the long field.

George McCoy reported that 5 members (Jason Bloom, Steve Carlson, Dudley Shimmel, Dennis Vicary and Jess Wriglesworth) have lost their eligibility in the club and will be replaced.
Two new members were installed after a Tom Hamilton motion and a Walt Kuzemchock second, they are Breck Neeper and Bob Huston. We still have 3 openings.

A general request was made to post the 22 match, center fire match, trap shoots and chukar hunt schedules on the web site so non-members will have access to club activities.

Bob McClure won the 50/50 drawing.

Breck Neeper made a motion to adjourn with a Bob Huston second.

A work party is scheduled for general repairs and cleanup on May 9 at 8:00 a.m. Please plan to attend.

Respectfully submitted by Randy Mitchell, Secretary.
