Caution - Icy driveway

If you are entering the club grounds, please be very careful because the driveway is a sheet of  ice. I know this because I slid right past the club house and clear down to the tractor shed last night, and I don't look for it to get any better in the next couple of days. Randy

A year end message for the members from Tom Hamilton

To the membership,
Another year has come and gone, goes faster as you get older, and we have gotten a lot accomplished this past year.  The front of the club house has been rebuilt, our second fishing derby was a great success, the area around the apple trees has been cleared, made a lot of contacts at Grices's shooters sale, another successful raffle and the list goes on.
With all of the fun and things accomplished this year, we need to remember that we lost a wonderful member this past September, Dennis Mollura.  He was our web master, took care of communications for the club and has taken care of sending out news letters in the past.  He will be greatly missed.  Thanks to Randy Mitchell and Dennis's wife, we now have our website up and running again.
This coming year has a list of things that we will need to get done.  The over flow pipe at the pond has rusted off, causing the water level to go done, the dock needs new pipes put in, side the rest of the club house, clear weeds and brush in preparation for our fishing derby, the 100 and 200 yard back stops need a little work and painted and general maintenance of the club grounds.
In addition to the above suggestions, I want to encourage members to take the initiative to do work around and in the club. If you see something that needs done, go ahead and do it. If it is something that requires money or help, bring your idea to the meeting so it can be approved.  Also, if you have a story or pictures that you would like to put on our website, send them to our web master, Randy M., so the rest of us can enjoy them.
I want to thank the members that worked at improving our club this year, you did a great job!
God bless all of you and your families, hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Tom Hamilton
President A.C.S.C.

Another test for ownership of the Anderson Creek Blogspot

Due to the recent death of our good friend and fellow member Dennis Mollura we have been unable to access our website (WWW.ANDERSONCREEK.BLOGSPOT.COM). Our thanks go out to the Mollura family for finding and providing us with the password to maintain our blog spot. We are striving to maintain the confidentiality we have been entrusted with and we are working towards transferring the site to a new owner and new administration. We are slowly coming up to speed with the expertise necessary to keep and maintain new postings to the site.

The first of what looks to be many steps to transfer these rights necessitated a change of email address. Our new email address is andersoncreeksc@gmail.com. Feel free to email us news items, pictures and announcements. We trust that in the very near future we will be able to publish all submissions.

Thank you for your patience and please watch the site for future match schedules, news and announcements.

Texas group to train women on firearms use

(NaturalNews) - Some say there is no more naturally protective force than a mother looking out for her children, and one organization is doing all it can to make that task easier for moms - by teaching them how to handle and use a firearm.

According to Breitbart News, the group - the Houston, Texas-based Armed Citizen Project - says it will sponsor a "National Empowerment Day" aimed at training and arming 500 single mothers and other women across the country. The date for the event is Aug. 10 and will represent a "massive expansion of the group's efforts," according to its executive director, Kyle Coplen, who spoke to Breitbart News exclusively.

We need deer hunters!

We will be having our 3rd deer target match of the year on July 14th, and we have not had a shooter in the Deer Rifle Class yet.

Rules are very simple for this class: Use you hunting rifle - 10X max scope, sporter rifle, any front and rear rest, $10, 10 shots at 400 yards, and 2 targets.

There is a prize at the end of the year for the "Top Gun" and we need competitors.

All of the club rifle matches are very light on member participation and this match is fun. I am asking our members to come out and support our matches and enjoy the food that is always there.

A complete set of rules and all of our match schedules are on the club website.

Thank You.

Preparations continue for Fishing Derby

Club member Steve Beretsel of DuBois helps prepare for Saturday's Kid's Fishing Derby by whacking the weeds along the pond in the rain.

Work continues as we get ready for our 2nd Kid's Fishing Derby this coming Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The pond is ready for the kids from the dock to the pine trees.

We cut several places through the trees so the kids would have easier access to the pond.  We still need members to go to the club and cut places around the lower side of pond with a weed whacker before Saturday.

Club members have donated almost $250.00 worth of fishing rods and another $200.00 worth of other prizes.  I am very proud of our membership, this has come out of their pockets.

I want to thank Steve Beretsel and Walt Kuzemchock for coming out in the rain to get the picnic tables hauled down to the pond and getting a good jump on making the pond "kid friendly".

Thanks,

- Tom Hamilton

Message from Michael McClure, our late member Steve McClure's brother

I am Steve McClure's brother, Michael. I am the knife maker who donated a knife to the club in brother Steve's memory. In reading the club's May 11th meeting minutes, I see you have my name listed as Dave McClure. Just wanted to bring this to the club's attention.

Also, a thank you to the club for approving my nephew Kyle McClure to take over the club membership of brother Steve.

Regards,

Michael McClure

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Michael, and for donating one of your fine hand-made knives to the club. We apologize for the error.

Kindest regards,

Dennis Mollura

Important message for members and shooters

The benches at the A.R.A. and 400-yard ranges have been measured and string- lined. They are not to be moved.

The A.R.A. is very strict about bench placement, and it takes considerable time to put them in line.

In the past we have had problems with members and their guest moving the benches and not putting them back in place. Some even have mixed up the bench numbers.

If you need to shoot prone, there is plenty of room between the benches to do so.

Thank you for your cooperation.

- Tom Hamilton

Small work party completes a lot of projects

We only had 6 people show up for the May 18 work party, but we got a lot done.

I want to thank Carl Huss, Tom Noble, Bud and Roger Thomas and Jeremy Smith and his kids for taking time to make our club better.

The work party installed a new door in the shooting room.  It is a foot wider to make access to the benches easier.

In addition, the 50-yard benches were painted, a large amount of garbage disposed of, the trap machine serviced and installed, and the grass cut.

Thanks again to all who helped.

Hi Guys,
Just a reminder that there will be a work party at the club this Saturday, June 18th, at 10:00 a.m.
We will be working on the 400-yard backstop, installing a new door in the shooting room, sealing the 50-yard benches and cutting weeds and grass at the pond.
We need weedeaters, push mowers and shovels.
Thanks,
Hammy
