Old Business
Steve Strouse reported 9 shooters attended the 200 yd bench rest match. Shannon McKee cleaned out the remaining corn from the corncrib. Joel Harris and Mike Solida have completed the excavation for the new 100, 200 and 300 yard ranges. The annual fishing derby will be held on June 7th, more news will follow. We would welcome donations of gifts to give to the children. We will need the brush around the pond cleared prior to the fishing derby. This is an excellent way to gain points for the year.
We will need 1 piece of roofing to replace the piece blown off of the shooting room. Please let us know if you have any sheeting that can be used. We are going to check our insurance to see if we have coverage for the collapsing roof of the hay shed due to snow load.
New Business
Andy Shaffer suggested we buy a 300 gallon sprayer for $500.00 which would be used to spray the fields for weeds. Joel Dutra made a motion to buy the sprayer and the motion passed on a Scott Brubaker second. We also discussed buying liquid lime to be sprayed on the fields using the sprayer.
We will have a work party to finish the newly created berms for the ranges after the weather breaks. We will plan on setting target carriers and planting the berms in May. Tom Hamilton reported on several options for planting and fertilizing the berms at less than $300.
Jerry Witherow has donated the knife he won last year back to the club. We will have a members only drawing for the knife. Tickets will be $5.00 and will be on sale for 3 months. Members can buy as many tickets as they wish.
Joel Dutra discussed having a Youth Hunter Education Course at the club under the auspices of the NRA. The NRA is trying to get one organized for each of the 8 statewide districts. This is a competition for the youth with a rifle competition and other various subjects such as wildlife identification. Joel volunteered to organize the shooting portion and Jeremy Smith volunteered to handle the other portions.
On a Carl Huss motion and a Jim Johnston second we approved a $300.00 advance to Andy Shaffer for farming.
Steve Strouse suggested we get more gravel for the driveway. Several members have volunteered to check on pricing and the best type of gravel for the driveway.
We will be filling three member vacancies at next month’s meeting.
Shannon McKee won the door prize.
Breck Neeper made a motion to adjourn and the motion was seconded by Jerry Witherow.
Respectfully submitted by Randy Mitchell secretary.
