3 Classes of 400-Yard Shoot Scheduled for Nov. 14

On November 14,  there will be a 400-yard shoot with 3 classes. The matches are for any style gun with any scope and any ammo. The 3 classes will be split by guns in calibers .223, .308 and any centerfire rifle.

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Jeremy Smith at 7:34 p.m.

Minutes of the September 11, 2010 meeting were presented by acting secretary Joel Dutra. A motion by Jeremy Smith seconded by George McCoy to accept, the minutes were approved.

The treasurer’s report was presented by George McCoy. A motion passed to accept the report and pay the bills.

Old Business:
Jeremy reported that the new trap is installed but that he suggests we wait to purchase the loading carousel in the spring because of the warranty terms. The proposal was accepted by consensus.

A raffle proposal was given by Joel, a 6-gun/money raffle with 2,000 tickets to be drawn at the March meeting. Tickets will be $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. Additional cash prizes of $100.00 will be given for each 100 tickets sold after the 1st 1000, the 6th prize will be the only prize with no cash option. Prizes will be: 1st a Remington 70 or $499.00, 2nd Weatherby Vanguard or $350.00, 3rd Rugar L.C.P. or $250.00, 4th Leupold 4x12 or $200.00, 5th Smith & Wesson 22 Sport pistol or $150.00 and 6th Remington Model 5, 17 HMR (no cash option).

A motion to proceed with the raffle was made by Charles Bungo and seconded by Andy Shaffer, motion passed.

President Smith reported on a letter from the I.R.S. that informed us that our application for tax exemption would probably be rejected as submitted. Randy Mitchell and Greg Yutsey are doing additional research and will continue to report.

New Business:
Andy Shaffer advised he had put the lime in the pond. Also, Andy says the tractor brakes are very poor. The break system is a wet brake and he will check on prices to have it repaired.

A thank you card was received from Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church for the donation from the club in remembrance of John Morgan.

There was discussion on the updating of the internet site and Jeremy will talk to Randy and Dennis.

A motion was made by Breck Neeper and seconded by Shannon to approve a members-only raffle, passed, and Walt will handle it.  Tickets will be available at the November meeting.

Andy Shaffer will be setting coyote traps and advises members to watch their dogs if on camp property. He also asked to be able to remove the pear tree that interferes with the tractor shed. After discussion approval was given by consensus.

Match Reports:
Walt reported that the last match had light attendance,  probably because of the windy conditions, but hoped tomorrow's match would have more shooters.

The chucker hunt had 10 squads with an approximate profit of $400.

Scott Brubaker motion seconded by Jim Johnson to adjourn passed at 8:15.

The 50/50 was won by Joel Dutra and was donated back to the club.

October 10 400-yard match results posted

It was windy!!! Temperature was great and there were 38 targets shot.

Match note:
Linda Soliday, wife of member Mike Soliday and mother of competitive shooter Alan Soliday, shot in the match today. It has been many years scince Linda has fired a rifle. Not only did she beat her husband but, son Alan was beaten by his "Mommy"!!!

September 11, 2010 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Jeremy Smith at 7:30 p.m. on September 11th, 2010

The August minutes were presented by Randy Mitchell and approved on a motion by Bob McClure and a second by Andy Shaffer. The treasurer’s report was presented by the treasurer George McCoy and approved on a motion by Steve Strouse and a second by Bob McClure.

Old Business
Randy Mitchell presented a review of the condition of the clubhouse based upon a meeting he had with Pat McNaul on 9/9/10. Overall the building is in very good shape but a list of immediate and future repairs was presented. Andy Shaffer made a motion to purchase a new support post to replace a wooden one in the basement that was identified as an immediate concern. The motion passed. A motion was made to proceed with other repairs and Randy Mitchell will contact Joe Mitchell and Mike Straub (two members with construction experience) to make other immediate repairs.

Tom Noble contacted Unilec and organized the removal of the live electric line from the club grounds and pond. Volunteers are needed to move the poles off of the range. The purchase of a factory refurbished trap thrower just like ours was approved on a motion by Jeremy Smith. A new automatic carousel for the trap thrower was also approved for purchase after a motion by Nick Prave and a second by Roy Mahlon. After a third reading of the amendment to the by-laws to make the club alcohol free a vote was held and the amendment was defeated by a vote of 25 no’s and 1 abstention.

Match Reports
The last rimfire event of the year had 21 targets, and there were 10 shooters for the IBS match.

New Business
Charles Bungo made a motion to formulate a by-law to govern alcohol use and the resulting penalties for misuse by the board of directors. The consensus is that there should be ban on alcohol use during any shooting events and violation of this rule will result in immediate expulsion upon misuse by the club member or guests.

There will be a 400 yard IBS match on 9/12/10. On November 14th there will be a 400 yard shoot with 3 classes. The matches are for any style gun with any scope and any ammo. The 3 classes will be split by guns in calibers 223, 308 and any center fire rifle.

Greg Yutzey reported that the IRS paperwork for the 503C7 has been sent and they will contact us if they need any other paperwork. We have received an invitation from Matt Gabler to attend the Johnsonburg Sportsmen’s show on 9/25/10.

The annual Chukar Hunt will be next Sunday 9/19/10 and is $40.00 per person or $160.00 per squad of 4 shooters with a $12.00 reduction for any missing shooters from the 4-man squad. Bob McClure purchased supplies for the kitchen and members are advised to pack and seal the items after use. Tom Noble made a motion to advance Steve McClure $150.00 for food for the Chukar Hunt. Members are reminded that there are no reservations of the club after October 1st, the beginning of hunting season. Lime has been delivered and needs dumped into the pond.

Nick Prave won the $12.50 50/50 drawing.

Randy Mitchell made a motion to adjourn and Bob McClure seconded the motion.
