January 9, 2010 Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order by Jeremy Smith at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th, 2010
The December minutes were presented by Randy Mitchell and approved on a motion by Bob McClure and a second by Roger Thomas. The treasurer’s report was presented by George McCoy and approved on a motion by Tom Noble and a second by Andy Shaffer.
Old Business
Jeremy Smith reminded the members that volunteers are needed to man the booth at the club booth during the spring sale at Grice’s Gun Shop on the 29th, 30th and 31st of January. Tickets for the gun raffle drawing to be held at the February meeting are available from George McCoy.
A thank you letter was received from Jack Igou for our donation following his house fire was received. Jim Johnston gave a recap of the 2009 smallbore matches and thanked everybody for helping. Martin Hrin made a motion to vote on the proposed windmill turbine contract. On a Bob Huston second the members in a secret vote turned down the proposal with 22 no’s and 4 yes’s.
New Business
A lengthy discussion was held concerning the recent damage to the 50, 100 and 200-yard ranges. Several options were discussed to eliminate further damage, including increased surveillance by members, the use of hidden cameras and criminal charges for anyone caught damaging club property. The board of directors has the authority to “suspend or expel any member for any conduct in violation of the rules, or behavior improper or prejudicial to the interest of the club”.
Andy Shaffer made a motion to have Tom Hamilton purchase three six foot tables for the club to replace the table that is missing. The motion passed on a Jerry Witherow second. Doctor Bungo made a motion to pay for the club membership in the Chestnut Tree Foundation and purchase seedlings when they are available. The motion passed on a Jerry Witherow second.
Andy Shaffer made a motion with a Tom Hamilton second to buy corn for the feeder. The motion passed and Randy Mitchell will contact Frank Delarme for the availability of corn.
Tom Hamilton made a motion and Don O’Dell seconded the motion to refuse the resignation of Bud McCall for the coming year and allow him to remain for the coming year based upon his past contributions to the club. The club was notified that life member Dudley Shimmel recently passed away, the club will send a sympathy card and after a Tom Hamilton motion and a Mike Beretsel second agreed to donate $50.00 to St. Francis in his honor.
The schedule for trap shoot / steak feeds is Sunday June 6th, Saturday July 24th and Sunday August 22nd. A chukar hunt has also been scheduled for Sunday September 19th. Bryan Brubaker was appointed to the Board of Directors.
The $15.00 50/50 was won by Marty Hrin
Marty Hrin made a motion to adjourn with a Glenn Byerly second.
